💬 Rural Fibre – Frequently Asked Questions
📍 What is Rural Fibre?
Rural Fibre is high-speed internet delivered to homes and businesses outside of urban areas using fibre-optic technology. It offers fast, reliable connectivity in places where traditional broadband options may have been limited or inconsistent.
🏠Can I get Rural Fibre at my address?
Availability depends on your location. Get in touch with our team to see if Rural Fibre is available at your property.
🚚 What’s involved in getting connected?
Once we confirm availability at your address, we’ll book scope visit first. After this a professional installation can be booked. A technician will visit your property to install the necessary equipment and get you set up with a fast, reliable fibre connection.
⚡ How fast is Rural Fibre?
Rural Fibre plans offer speeds comparable to urban fibre—perfect for streaming, video calls, gaming, and running a business from home. Specific speeds may vary based on your chosen plan and network conditions.
đź’Ľ Can I run a business on Rural Fibre?
Absolutely. Rural Fibre provides the performance and stability needed for remote work, cloud tools, VoIP, video conferencing, and more. It’s ideal for farms, home offices, and rural enterprises.
📶 What’s the difference between Rural Fibre and Satellite or 4G/5G Wireless?
Rural Fibre uses underground fibre-optic cables, offering much faster speeds and lower latency compared to Satellite, 4G & 5G Wireless. If you have access to Rural Fibre, it’s typically the better option for speed and reliability.
🔧 What equipment do I need?
We’ll supply everything you need, including an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and router. If you already have networking gear, we can advise on compatibility.
đź’° Are there installation costs?
Standard installations are often covered, but some complex or remote installs may incur a fee. We’ll let you know upfront before proceeding.
⚙️ Why can’t I use another provider?
Most internet providers, also known as Retail Service Providers (RSPs), don’t actually own the fibre networks—they lease them from larger carriers that do. Every time an RSP uses that infrastructure, the network owner receives a monthly fee.
In contrast, a private network is when the same company owns the fibre infrastructure and provides the internet service directly to you. This means you can’t switch to another provider, because other RSPs aren’t able to lease access to that network—it’s exclusive.
Our network is currently built as a “private network”.
